In-N-Out

Today was a non-riding day. As much as I love riding the motorcycle, take everything in moderation. I used my time this morning to chronicle the last couple of my riding days from Colorado Springs to Sacramento. I knew I would want In-N-Out Burger at some point upon my return, after all it is a local staple for (some) Californians.

I decided I would get In-N-Out for lunch on my first full day back. It was my last fast food meal before leaving California and I thought it should be my first fast food meal back. The nearest location was about (3) three miles away so I decided to walk and phone a friend. Google Maps estimated the walk to be about an hour so it should not be too bad or so I thought. I left around 1312 PT so I should miss any lunch rush; however, it was quite warm around low-mid 80 degrees Fahrenheit. I asked my friend why they let me go on a walk, it was a terrible idea! I was still committed despite the heat and in my motorcycle boots. After all, these boots are made for walking, not really but comfortable enough. We talked about the trip and our plan to meet up when I finally make it back to Southern California.

They were kind of enough to keep me company the entire walk while I described/shared images of the lovely scenery and I questioned the path I was routed down.

geese

I avoided the waterfowl and took the long way around. So many to avoid.

in-n-out

I was so happy to see In-N-Out around 1420 just because it meant I could finally eat. I ordered my usual

  • 4x4 + Onion
  • Fry
  • Med Dr Pepper

and I added water to hydrate. I enjoyed the air conditioned restaurant until my food was ready and I sat outside to eat. Sitting outside was not as bad in the shade but I was dreading the walk back. I requested a water refill and I was on my way again. Walking back in the lovely California sun with some shade and slight breeze scattered along the way. I made another phone call to a different to catch up with and while on the call another friend called so I merged the calls. It was a fun conversation and I am looking forward to seeing them on future rides with our Sena 50S headsets. It was about another hour walk again down a different path and in total (6) six miles round trip. I have met my walking quota for the month.

And a warm welcome back to Prop 65.

Today was good to mentally prepare myself for Death Valley (DV) even if it will not prepare me for it physically. I had always planned for the last official stop of this trip to end in DV. I chose this location because it was my reintroduction to the great outdoors in Fall 2012, thank you Geology 201 [Earth History]. Yes, it will be hot with a current forecast high of ~109 degrees Fahrenheit. I do have the fortune of good friends to commiserate in misery with me.

My family returned from work and it appeared I never left the couch. We were able to hang out and eat dinner before turning in for the night. The next update will be delayed as I do not expect to have cellular service in DV. Until next time, %n.
