PSA: Share the Road

I often forget it is the time of the year that people are reminded to look twice for people like me. People like me being (motor/bi)cyclists. The month of May is for motorcycle awareness. You will often see these reminders on the highway through the use of dot matrix displays. The displays commonly used for estimated arrival times or AMBER Alerts. Of course you should always be mindful of your surroundings while operating a motorized vehicle.

My stay at the Comfort Suites while short was great. The person assisting me was able to accommodate the room location request and they also suggested keeping my motorcycle parked in the loading drop-off area (both well lit and monitored). They were also slightly surprised when they saw my California license and my response when they asked if I rode from there. After checking out I loaded my bags up for departure. While I was loading I had a brief conversation about motorcycles with a person waiting for a ride. They asked about the trip and complimented my setup while reminiscing of their former riding days. Would stay again.

My first stop was Alabama for lunch. However, before lunch there is another state in-between Louisiana and Alabama, Mississippi. The southern part of Mississippi is not a long distance as I was there and out without even stopping for gasoline. I would like to go back after seeing the INFINITY Science Center off the 10. Maybe if I make that return trip to New Orleans?

I stopped in Mobile, AL for lunch with a friend and I wish I also had time to visit USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park. So many things to see and never enough time. While at lunch I was warned about the boring view while going towards the Atlanta, GA area and accompanying traffic as well. Unfortunately, but not surprising both warnings turned out to be true. I was warned about the traffic as well while talking to a person at a gas station in Saraland, AL who was also curious about my trip. I did have one relatively close panic call today from a winged animal, too bad they did not look twice for motorcyclists. It caught me by surprise because it seemed to wait on the shoulder until I was closer to strike!

The traffic in the Atlanta area was not that bad at least where I was at and it was a slight reminder of sweet home. I am finally in the Eastern time zone.

I had made plans to leave a song here to end the post for tonight...the GPS apparently had the same plans for me because the song played right before I ended the ride today. It has become self-aware.
