I had hoped to publish a quarterly update, but here we are in the second quarter. I have not had any extended stay two-wheeled adventures in 2022, yet. However, I have visited The Rocky Mountains, again. Due to time constraints it was a quick flight over to Denver and a few days in Estes Park. Walking or sliding on ice in the dark is terrifying. I was there for an interview...not. I did have an interview, but I was really there to see some friends be wed. It was worth the trip even if I was quite cold during the entire ceremony. It was also great to see some other mutual friends in attendance at the wedding.
Other than the wedding, it has been the new usual for me, cycling. Sadly, due to reasons I have been more casual than I would have liked so far this year. Although I did have some memorable rides such as what felt like a forever climb up to Crystal Lake and a subsequent attempt to Dawson Saddle cut short by a mechanical issue. Thankfully I had company that was able to ride down the mountain and pick me up with a vehicle. Otherwise it would have been quite the awkward walk of (18) eighteen miles back to my vehicle with no cellular service. As I waited I thought about this particular scenario if offered a ride by a stranger. I also recently recovered from a mild case of COVID-19 so I got that going for me, which is nice. Now I hope I do not have anything else to worry about. I need to get back on the saddle.
Apparently it has been (1) one year (2021-05-29) since I returned from my midlife crisis and I concluded my adventure. In celebration of recovering from COVID-19 which included (10) ten days in isolation and the anniversary of my trip, I made it a motorcycle day.
A beautiful day with Mr. Blue Sky through Santiago Canyon with a friend (the same friend that met me in Santa Monica last year). It is a different experience going through the canyon on a motorcycle since I am used to suffering and questioning my life choices cycling through the canyon with other friends.
Other life updates/adventures to follow soon™.
p.s. I started watching Long Way Round. Would recommend. It has made me miss my time on the open road. Anyone want to sponsor me? p.p.s. I got the job.
